The most beautiful Dutch gardens in France

The Drulon Gardens which can be found in the south of the Berry in the very heart of France offer a stroll in 16 hectares of gardens and nature. A walk that, no lover of Art, Gardens and Nature would like to miss!

In 1998 Nanou and Piet Hendriks purchased the Drulon estate. Charmed by the place, even  though its abandoned condition, they considered it as the ideal site for their plan for the Artistic Gardens. After a long labour of cleaning the grounds and restoring the buildings, the design of the first two gardens is given to A. de St. Venant and J. Gerard of Ginko consultants. According to P. Hendriks wishes, the old vegetables garden that had completely disappeared under the brambles, became the Floral Garden. The meadow next to it was laid out as the Room Garden and the surrounding natural spaces were developed as the Wild Garden.
These three plots of land together with the buildings and the Secret Garden, which is hidden by them, opened to the public in June 2000. Quickly the botanical richness and the beauty of the associations arouse the enthusiasm of garden lovers. In 2001 the site is classified “Remarkable Garden” .
The passion that P. Hendriks shares with S. Colnot, the chief gardner, leads to new creations: The Garden of Bacchus with its collection of vines and the Garden of Paeon with a collection of peonies and English roses.
During the period the gardens are open, from late April until the first of November, the Gardens of Drulon organise many events. Every year there is a new exposition thus the place is metamorphosed.
